Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba In 2006, 40 years later, "Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba" was established, centered around 20 thatched houses, in order to restore the original scenery of the beautiful thatched village that was lost in a typhoon disaster in 1966. The thatched-roof houses are dotted with places to experience traditional crafts, souvenirs, and restaurants.
Fugaku Wind Cave The lava cave "Fugaku Wind Cave" created by the lava flow of Mt. Fuji is a horizontal cave with a total length of 201 meters and a height of 8.7 meters. The gentle slope of the cave, created by the lava flow, makes it easy for children and the elderly to walk through. It takes about 15 minutes to go around the cave round trip. The average temperature inside the cave is about 3 degrees throughout the year. From the mid-Meiji period, a technique was developed to store silkworm eggs in the "Wind Cave" and adjust the hatching time, which is said to have led to a dramatic increase in silk production at the time.
Narusawa Ice Cave Narusawa Ice Cave is a cave with a total length of about 150 meters, a maximum width of 11 meters, and a maximum height of 3.6 meters. The cave was created by lava flows that flowed in when Mt. Fuji erupted in 864. It was designated as a national natural monument in 1929, and icicles (pillars made of ice) begin to form inside the cave in winter and reach their largest size around April. If you want to see some large icicles, we recommend visiting in the spring.
Kouyoudai Viewpoint Rest House There is an admission fee to go to the observation deck on the second floor of the rest house, located at an altitude of 1,100m. From the observation deck you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the magnificent Mt. Fuji, the Aokigahara Jukai Forest Lake Motosuko, Lake Saiko, and the Southern Alps.
