The Highlight
- In the Edo period (1603-1868), when the Fuji-Kho movement (religion: Shinto sect dedicated to the worship of Mt. Fuji) flourished, eight spring-fed ponds were designated as “Oshino Hakkai” where ascetic practitioners held purification rites before climbing Mt. Fuji.
- At "Hananomiyako Flower Park", from April to October, seasonal flower gardens blooming in the vast grounds provide relaxation to the viewer.
The Experience
Oshino Hakkai "Oshino Hakkai" refers to a group of eight spring-fed ponds that are the source of underground water from Mt. Fuji. They were designated as a national natural monument in 1934, and in 2013, they were registered as part of the World Heritage Site "Fujisan, sacred place and source of artistic inspiration." Oshino Hakkai was once used as a site for purifying oneself through water during the Edo period by believers of Fujiko (a Shinto sect dedicated to Mt. Fuji). Due to the high water quality, preservation environment, and scenic beauty of the ponds, they were designated as a national natural monument by the Japanese government.
Hana no Miyako Park At the "Hana no Miyako Park," which boasts a vast area of 300,000 square meters, visitors can enjoy various flowers that show different colors and beauty each season. Tulips, forget-me-nots, California poppies, poppies, zinnias, sunflowers, cosmos, and other flowers welcome visitors to the park.
Itinerary
- Departing from Fuji Kanko Travel in front of Kawaguchiko Station, you will arrive at Oshino Hakkai in about 20 minutes. You will have approximately 90 minutes to spend there.
- At Oshino Hakkai, you can stroll around the eight spring water ponds of Oshino, enjoy local dishes such as "Houtou," and spend time exploring the souvenir shops. Please enjoy the unique atmosphere of this tourist spot. *This product is for a chartered sightseeing taxi, and please note that any other expenses incurred during the tour will be borne by the customer. - After leaving Oshino Hakkai, you will head to our next destination, "Hananomiyako Park." The travel time is about 10 minutes. Depending on the season, you can enjoy a variety of flowers there. There are also places within the park where you can have light meals if needed.
- You will spend about 90 minutes at Hananomiyako Park. After that, we will return to Kawaguchiko Station (Fuji Kanko Travel).
