The Experience

Fuji Five Lakes The Fuji Five Lakes refer to a collective term for five lakes situated at the foot of Mt. Fuji on the Yamanashi Prefecture side. These lakes are Lake Yamanaka, Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Saiko, Lake Shoji, and Lake Motosu. All of them are crater lakes formed by volcanic activity from Mt. Fuji, resulting in dammed lakes due to lava flows. They are designated within the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park.

Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine, one of the constituent assets of the World Heritage Site of Mt. Fuji, has a history of over 1900 years. As you walk along the approach surrounded by thick cedar trees, you will come across the "Fuji-san Otorii," one of the largest wooden torii gates in Japan. The shrine is also famous as a solemn and powerful spiritual spot.

Oshino Hakkai "Oshino Hakkai" is a collective term for eight spring water ponds sourced from the underground waters of Mt. Fuji. Designated as a National Natural Monument in 1934 and registered as part of the World Heritage Site of Mt. Fuji in 2013. Oshino Hakkai was also once a spring pond for misogi (purification of the skin) where Fuji worshippers in the Edo period performed water exercises when climbing Mt. Fuji, and was designated as a natural monument by the government for its water quality, conservation environment, and scenery.

Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine At the globally famous "Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine," which captures the three symbols of Japan - Mount Fuji, a five-storied pagoda, and cherry blossoms - in a single photograph, approximately 650 Somei Yoshino cherry trees reach their peak bloom from early to mid-April.
