The Highlight
①Around 200 Somei Yoshino cherry trees bloom at Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine, which is associated with Takeda Shingen who was a busho (Japanese military commander) during the Sengoku period (1477 - 1573). ②Enjoy the collaboration of about 200 Somei Yoshino cherry trees, Lake Kawaguchi, and Mt. Fuji while strolling along the lakeside promenade on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi. ③Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine is adjacent to Arakura Fuji Sengen Park, a vast park of about 4.3 hectares, where approximately 650 Somei Yoshino cherry trees are in full bloom in April.
The Experience
Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine was established on the second station of Mt. Fuji in 699 AD as the oldest shrine on Mt. Fuji, and later moved to the shore of Lake Kawaguchi. The shrine grounds are home to about 200 Somei Yoshino cherry trees.
Lakeside on the North shore of Lake Kawaguchiko On the lakeside close to the circular hall on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchiko, there is a famous promenade lined with cherry blossom trees. Please enjoy a walk through the approximately 200 Somei Yoshino cherry trees and the view of Lake Kawaguchi and Mt. Fuji beyond.
Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine was established in the 3rd year of Keiun (705 AD) and is widely worshipped as a god of disaster prevention, household harmony, safe childbirth, and child-rearing. The site is also open as Arakura Fuji Sengen Park, which is home to about 650 cherry trees and hosts a cherry blossom festival in April, attracting many visitors.
Itinerary
- Departing from the meeting point in front of Kawaguchiko Station, we will arrive at Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine in about 10 minutes. We have about 40 minutes of free time to spend at the location.
- Afterward, we will arrive at the lakeside promenade on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchiko, our next destination, in about 15 minutes. We have about 30 minutes of free time to stroll leisurely through the cherry blossom-lined path.
- Then, we will arrive at our next destination, Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine, in about 15 minutes. We have about an hour of free time to fully enjoy the cherry blossoms, the five-story pagoda, and the magnificent view of Mt. Fuji. Afterward, we will head back to Kawaguchiko Station.
